Trial Results

October 18, 2025
We had an absolutely gorgeous day for our Fall IGP trial even though it kicked off with a chilly 37-degree morning at the tracking field. Every dog passed the tracking and obedience phases, but protection was a bit trickier for some teams.

I have a great deal to be thankful for, so please allow me a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation. Much thanks to Josh Huck for his top-notch work laying the IFH2 and IGP3 tracks and for being a safe and reliable helper. Many thanks to Shelby for coming out early to lay the IFH2 cross track. And a big shoutout to Nathaniel Roque for his fair judging and super helpful critiques, making the event club and competitor-friendly.

I personally want to thank all the competitors who make my life as a trial secretary so much easier by sending in complete and accurate entries and showing up on time for tracking and at the trial field. Being punctual and prepared really helps everything run smoothly for everyone involved.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our club members, volunteers, and competitors who jumped in to help on trial day. Your unwavering support, diligence, and commitment ensured the seamless execution of our event. Special thanks to those who dedicated countless hours in preparing the tracking and trial property, providing competitors with a safe and consistent trialing environment.

Deciding to shake things up we introduced a fresh style for our awards, plus some cool gifts for our judge and helper. Jennifer stepped up and had awesome custom metal leash racks made, complete with our club logo cut out with a plasma cutter. They were a total hit!

Big shoutout to our amazing trophy sponsors for stepping up in such a big way! Your generous contributions have been nothing short of a game-changer, seriously helping us keep costs down while giving this event the shine it deserves.

High Tracking, High Obedience, High Protection, High IGP1, High IGP2, High IGP3 and High in Trial including the judge and helper gifts were all sponsored by Jennifer Walker and Andria Witmer.
BH – Sponsored by Robin Thompson
FH2 – Sponsored by Mary Haus
STP1 – Sponsored by Terry Fisk – Show and Sport
Competitor bags – Terry Fisk – Show and Sport

Trial entries and results:
IFH2 – Robert and Alek 94 points High Tracking.
STp1 – Andria and Photon 84 points.
BH - First time competitor Jalen with his Labrador Joy was elated in passing the BH.
IGP 1
Hubert and Kelly – 92/80/81 High Obedience, High Protection, High IGP1, High in Trial
Esther and Kruger made a great attempt with a 74-point track, 75 in obedience but did not pass protection.
IGP3 – Barbara and Oszkar started out with a lovely 94 point track, 74 in obedience but did not pass protection.

To our competitors, we offer our sincere respect. Your dedication and tireless effort have led you to this moment. While the outcome is important, remember that you are leaving with the greatest prize of all – your dog. They seek not accolades or titles, but the shared experience. Embrace the journey, and be the inspiration that draws your dog to the trial field.

Sincerely,
Terry FIsk
President and Trial Secretary

March 15, 2025 15th anniversary trial
The Western Horizons Working Dog Club celebrated its 15th anniversary IGP trial on Saturday, March 15th. We were honored to have Andrea Duggan as the judge for the trial, which was fitting as she had judged one of the club's first trials. We were pleased to welcome Barbara Bordas as she shadowed Andrea as part of her requirement to enter the USCA judges’ program.
Despite facing cold and windy conditions, eight “HOT” dog and handler teams demonstrated their dedication and resilience by achieving a 100% pass rate. The inclement weather did not deter these teams from giving their all.

Congratulations on your achievements:
Doug and Baltr – BH
Zack and Izik – BH
Hubert and Kelly – BH
Robert and Alek – FH1 - 91
Terry and Mercy – FPr1 – 76
Andria and Photon – IGP1 – 74/80/72 High IGP 1
Gary and Olga – IGP2 – 92/85/85 High IGP2, High Tracking, High Protection, High in Trial
Steve and Soda – IGP3 – 86/86/74 High Obedience, High IGP3

We are grateful to Andrea for her friendship over the years, friendly demeanor towards competitors and club members, as well as for her fair and consistent judging and informative critiques.

WHWDC extends our sincere gratitude to Josh Huck for his exceptional expertise in track laying and ensuring safety while working dogs. His skills and dedication have been invaluable to our trials.

I personally want to express our sincere gratitude to those who celebrated our 15th anniversary with special tokens; personalized cupcakes from Esther and a commemorative coffee mug from Barbara. To the trophy sponsors, as well as the many volunteers from our club, competitors, and neighboring clubs who played a vital role in the success of our trial. Your unwavering dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed, and we are truly grateful for your support.

Sincerely,
Terry Fisk
Trial Coordinator and President

Thank you to all who came out to support our Spring IGP trial on April 6th. We had a very supportive group of competitors and spectators. Judge Deb even commented on the comradery and sportsmanship during the trial. Friday evening surprised us with a late Spring snow storm blanketing everything with about an inch of snow. Because it was late in the day there was a good deal remining Saturday morning giving me a challenge to de-ice my van to pick up our Judge on time. Even so, tracking conditions were lovely with recent plowing and moist ground but a chilly 34 degrees with a light breeze. Robert Gager laid the IGP2 and STp2 tracks while Bella Yuan laid the IGP3 tracks. Thank you both for doing a great job.

We receive so many compliments from our judge, competitors and spectators. I cannot express enough my thanks for our club members and competitors who kept the trial running like a well-oiled machine.

Mary took the helm as our Trial Secretary and my right-hand woman. Andria and Shelby (both competing) came early to set up. Robin headed the “group” with Ronnie, Andria, Shelby, Bella and Mary rotating in with Robert doing the gunfire for the obedience dogs. Spectators and other competitors chipped in to help move equipment, man the gate and help set up lunch. I am forever grateful for all of your participation.

Judge Deb Krsnich provided thorough, informative and supportive pre-trial handler meetings, fair and consistent judging and enlightening critiques and post-trial debriefings. She was a joy to work with.

Josh Huck took the field after obedience and provided safe and consistent helper work for a variety of breeds. As always, it was great to have him out to work the dogs.

Congratulations to those who were successful and to those who did not meet their goal may your next attempt be successful.

  • October 21, 2023 IGP Trial
WHWDC held our annual Fall IGP trial Saturday October 21st. Thank you to Judge Robert Johantgen for being club and competitor friendly and providing valuable information during his critiques. To Josh Huck for his highway straight tracks and safe and consistent helper work on such a hot day. Thank you to everyone who volunteered (demo dog, group, gun fire, set up, tear down, etc.), many who were also competing. It's difficult enough to trial much less going in different directions on trial day. To Mary who took on the job of Trial Secretary for the first time with detail and accuracy, I thank you. And a big thank you to a great group of competitors for supporting our trial and being great sportsmen even when they had an off day. There is always opportunity to grow and learn from every trial.
    Here are the results:
TR1 Terry and Mercy did not pass
    STP3 Terry and Atilla 83
    BH Ronnie and Cairo passed
BH Robin and Yola did not pass
